Monday’s Minutes

“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.

Currently Reading:

  • A History of Reading by Alberto Manguel
  • The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers
  • Spying on the South by Tony Horwitz
  • Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher
  • The Archived by Victoria Schwab

Total pages read this week: 324

Total books for the year: 45 of 85. So much for finishing at least one of my current reads! I went on a short vacation to Lake Tahoe, and I thought I would be spending quite a bit of my time relaxing with a book, but that didn’t happen. I did relax, but while walking around, eating wonderful food, and napping.

Shortly before I left on my trip, my local public library announced they were reopening for curbside pickup. I immediately put a couple of books on hold, including The Archived. My books were ready to be picked up by time I got back home, so I hopped on the bus to go get them. I started reading The Archived as soon as I got back to the bus stop to go home. I don’t know what took me so long to read this book!

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for July 24th – 30th.
  • I went to Lake Tahoe this week with the Boyfriend and a couple of friends.  We all needed a break from the craziness of city life.  I got a lot of fresh air, a lot of exercise from walking around, and ate a lot of great food.  I also got sun burnt, and will be spending this weekend slathering myself with aloe.

Total books for the year: 45 of 85. It was a slow reading week for me. I had a lot going on at work, then had to take my cat, Dresden to the vet, and I felt like playing “Stardew Valley” more than anything else. This week, I am determined to finish at least one of my current reads.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for July 17th – 23rd.
  • This was a rough week.  My cat, Dresden, got sick, and I had to take him to the vet.  I felt tired all week, and was dealing with allergies.  My feet and legs have been hurting thanks to plantar faciitis and ITBS, and I had to go back to doing my physical therapy exercises instead of the workouts I had planned.  Hopefully next week will be better.

Total books for the year: 45 of 85. I accomplished quite a bit of reading this week, partly because I spent a large chunk of my weekend reading with the Boyfriend. He’s really into The Sandman graphic novels right now, and I needed a weekend of relaxation.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for July 3rd – 9th.
  • In addition to my daily exercise, I’m going to add in a weekend 30 minute cardio workout.  I’ve been focusing on doing my physical therapy exercises, and I think my back is at a point where I can handle some cardio.
  • This week was a struggle, so it’s no surprise that I didn’t hit my step or active minutes goals.  I’m hoping the addition of some cardio will help change that.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

Total books for the year: 42 of 85. It was another slow reading week, but only because I started implementing the Getting Things Done method, and that took up quite a bit of my time. It has been worth it, though! I have already gotten so many things done, and my life feels much more organized than it did before.
