“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.
Currently Reading:
The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers
Prime-Time Health by Dr. William Sears
The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
Finished:
The Carrow Hauntby Darcy Coates
Samhain by Diana Rajchel
Total pages read this week: 322
Total books for the year: 74 of 85. Now that the month of Halloween is over and November has begun, I am determined to finish the Current Reads that have been sitting there giving me side-eye for months. I keep telling myself I will not start any new books until those 3 books are finished. The only exception is if I want to start listening to an audiobook, but I have so many podcasts to keep me occupied right now, I don’t know if I’ll be starting any audiobooks any time soon.

Total books for the year: 72 of 85. I love readathons! They give me the opportunity to get through a chunk of my TBR or a large number of pages, and sometimes both. I finished 4 books this time around, and almost finished a 5th. I will likely finish The Carrow Haunt today since I only have an hour left on the audiobook.
I’ve survived another Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon… sort of! I made it to just after 1 AM and then decided that I was done. Just done.
Total Pages Read: 542
Closing Survey
How would you assess your reading overall? I did ok, but not great.
Did you have a strategy, and if so, did you stick to it? My strategy was to read the shortest books on my readathon maybe’s list and listen to an audiobook when I needed to give my eyes a break.
What was your favorite snack? Tortilla chips and Fall Harvest salsa.
Wanna volunteer for our next event? Perhaps….
I’m already in bed as this post goes live. I think I should have stuck to the Middle-Grade Fiction strategy I had during the #Readathon in April. Though The Witch of Ravensworth by George Brewer was only around a hundred pages, it felt long and had an extremely disappointing ending. By the time I finished it and started Nightbooks by J.A. White, I was toast. I read just enough of it to count for the Bingo, but I’m sure I’ll love it when I have fresh eyes and a rested brain.
I’ve survived 16 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, and I still haven’t fallen asleep, not even a little. I think I’ve also finished more books so far than I have for any other #Readathon I’ve done. I did take time out to watch a movie with the Boyfriend, though, so I didn’t get through as many pages as I wanted, but that’s ok. I also participated in the “Around a Campfire” mini-challenge.
Pages Read: 206
Books Read:Rose of Fire by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Time Read: 6 hours and 52 minutes
Yummy in my Tummy: I had a chocolate chip cookie, tortilla chips and Fall Harvest salsa, and then I had a veggie burrito for dinner.
Until my final update, at 5 am, I’ll be finishing The Witch of Ravensworth by George Brewer and The Carrow Haunt by Darcy Coates, and then hopefully get through at least 50 pages of Nightbooks by J.A. White before the end.
Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?
1. What are you reading right now? I’m nearly halfway through The Witch of Ravensworth by George Brewer 2. How many books have you read so far? 3 3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Readathon? I’m looking forward to Nightbooks by J.A. White, which I’m buddy-reading with ElizabethAnne on Goodreads. 4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Only 1 interruption so far, when the Boyfriend insisted on showing me a t-shirt he saw on Facebook. 5. What surprises you most about the Readathon, so far? How I managed to finish 3 books before the halfway mark.
I’ve survived the first 8 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon and I haven’t fallen asleep on the couch even once! I’m pretty sure I have the dirty chai from Peet’s to thank for that. Well, the chai AND the amazing books I’ve read so far.

Books Read:Charlie he Choo-Choo by Beryl Evans, A Leaf on the Wind of All-Hallows by Diana Gabaldon
Time Read: 6 hours and 54 minutes
Yummy in my Tummy: I had a giant cup of tea, then the large dirty chai with a veggie breakfast burrito from Peet’s for breakfast. I also had an oatmeal raisin cookie and some hot apple cider around 11:30.
Until my 2nd update, at 9 pm, I’ll continue reading the remaining books on my Goodreads list.

Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon has officially started! I stumbled out of the bed about 20 minutes ago and immediately started the kettle to make myself a giant mug of tea. I was going to have Peet’s be delivered since a readathon is a perfect time for pastries and chai, but I decided that is a good reason to put in my earbuds, start an audiobook, and go for a walk! I’ll be posting my updates every 8 hours, assuming my pile of books keeps me awake.
What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I’m in Emeryville, CA.
Which book in your stack are you looking forward to the most? For the first time, I have no idea. I put so many great books on my readathon-maybes list, and I have 5 more books from the library.
Which snack are you looking forward to the most? Pastries from Peet’s!
Tell us a little something about yourself! Here are 20 somethings about myself. Also, I have a second fur baby now, Raith:
If you participated in the last readathon, what’s one thing you’ll do differently today? I’m going to try reading the books I have on my list in order of shortest to longest.
I usually put my TBR here, but the link to my pile is up above and currently stands at 41 books tall. My first update will be at 1 pm. I’ll be tracking how many pages I read and any books I finish. I’ll also include snacks I’ve nommed, and any musical earworms that have gotten into my head.
