Yesterday was Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, and I’m not sure I’ll be participating in them anymore. It went from being a huge event that I greatly looked forward to every April and October to an event that the hosts don’t seem to want to be bothered with putting any effort into anymore. I think in the future I’m going to put aside a weekend for reading during the same months to keep the tradition on my own.
What are you reading? Let me know in the comments!
We’re 16 hours into Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, and I’m calling it a night. I want to stay awake, but my body is not going to let me, no matter how good Gallant might be.
Pages Read: 287
Books Read:Gallant by V.E. Schwab
Time Read: 4 hours and 47 minutes
Yummy in my Tummy: I snacked on some pork rinds, had a turkey and cheese sandwich, and a dirty chai as a late lunch, and then a couple of chili dogs and some root beer for a late dinner.
I’ll write my answers to the closing survey and post them after I get up tomorrow. Until then, good night!
Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?
The first 8 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon have passed and I only took a very brief nap while reading with The Boyfriend on the couch. I did almost fall asleep again when one of the cats, Dresden, demanded yet more snuggles, but instead I took a pic of him to share on Litsy.
Pages Read: 241
Books Read:Wizards of Water and Wood by P.J. Owen, Number the Stars by Lowis Lowry
Time Read: 4 hours and 1 minute
Yummy in my Tummy: I had a giant cup of tea, a cherry yogurt, two hardboiled eggs, and a couple slices of toast with butter for Breakfast. Then, around Elevenses, I opened up the container of peanut butter snack mix I have been waiting all week for and ate quite a bit of it before putting it away again.
Until my 2nd update, at midnight EST, I’ll continue reading the remaining books from my TBR stack and, at some point, hopefully, I’ll listen to at least a little bit of The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde.
Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?
Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon has officially started! I’ve been awake since around 6:30 am, thanks to one of my cats, Dresden, deciding that he desperately needed snuggles and get his belly scratched (He loves belly scratches, but only by me). I’ve got my huge cup of tea and I’m set up in the den on our super comfy couch to read while I eat some toast with a little bit of butter, a yogurt, and a couple of hardboiled eggs.
My first book of the readathon is Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. While I still have my pile of books, I’m doing what I did back in October and picking 9 books from the list by length. The physical books are pictured below. So, if all goes well, I’ll only be reading shorter Middle-Grade fiction, except for the audiobook I started earlier this week, The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde. I’ll be posting updates here every 8 hours.
What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I’m in Columbus, OH.
Which book in your stack are you looking forward to the most? The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris.
Which snack are you looking forward to the most? I got a peanut butter snack mix from Costco that I had to hide from myself in the back of the pantry so I wouldn’t open it until today.
Tell us a little something about yourself! I own over 800 books that I haven’t read yet, over 500 of which are physical books. Though I’ve tried many different book buying/shopping bans over the years, I finally made a deal with myself to not buy any more physical books until I had enough space on my bookshelves for them. This readathon will give me that space 🙂
If you participated in the last readathon, what is one thing you’ll do differently today? As mentioned above, I’ve selected a small stack of books from my TBR, based on length, that I will attempt to stick to for this readathon. Last readathon, I only picked physical books, but this time, I’m including an ebook.
My first update will be at 4 pm. I’ll be tracking how many pages I read and any books I finish. I’ll also include snacks I’ve nommed, and any music I’ve listened to while reading.
Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?
It’s supposed to rain this weekend, which is fine by me since it’s #readathon weekend! That’s also why I’m posting this today instead of tomorrow.
I managed to mow all of the lawn on Saturday, but it took a lot of breaks in the shade and a lot of water. I got over an hour’s worth of active minutes, and I’m glad I did it since mowing this weekend probably won’t happen.

Currently Reading:
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
The Stolen Marriage by Diane Chamberlain
Finished:
The Book Charmer by Karen Hawkins
DNF:
The Wolves of Winter by Tyrell Johnson
Total pages read this week: 181
Total books for 2022: 23 of 85.
I still have one book left that won’t fit on the shelf, thanks to getting this month’s book for the Fantastic Strangelings book club. I know I’ll finish To Kill a Kingdom today, and I’ll probably finish one more book this week before this weekend, but it will definitely take the #readathon to free up enough space on my shelves for that last book.

It’s supposed to be 80+ degrees all weekend, and it’s sunny out today (for the time being). The weather has been a lot better this whole week, with the exception of some rain, and that means I’m not in as much pain as I’ve been in for what feels like forever. The only downside is all of the yard work I’ve got to try to get done before it rains again.

I have only one book left that won’t fit on the shelf, and it’s a fairly thick book, so I will probably have to read two more books for it to fit. If I don’t get them read by Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon then I will have to read several more books during the readathon. The April readathon is when I typically read as much Middle-Grade Fiction as I can, and most of the books I choose tend to be short so I don’t lose steam and find myself falling asleep in the middle of the day. I haven’t figured out my TBR for the readathon yet, but I will probably put one together this afternoon.

Last week I said I was tired of it being cold and rainy all the time. Well, it’s still raining, but it warmed up a bit, so I guess that’s an improvement. I’m meeting up with one of my cousins today and I really hope the rain doesn’t ruin our plans.
I had to take a couple of days off of work this week thanks to pain all down my leg making it difficult to walk. The good news is that I finally have an appointment for an MRI. I’m one step closer to hopefully getting some real help.

I’m down to 2 books that won’t fit on the shelves. I’m a bit excited to be making space on my bookshelves, especially with Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon coming up at the end of the month. I know it’s a bit counter-productive, but I plan on rewarding myself with a new book once there is enough space for it.
