Everything in my life sort of went to hell this week. It started with me having such severe mood swings along with several other distressing symptoms that by Wednesday I couldn’t take it any longer and booked an appointment for the next day with a new doctor at a virtual/Telehealth clinic. Otherwise, I don’t know how long I would have had to wait to get everything sorted out. I almost missed the appointment after getting stuck in the worst traffic I’ve ever seen where I live and had to pull into some church’s parking lot to get logged on just in time. My new doctor prescribed me a couple of different medications (Yay!) As I went to drive home, my fuel light came on (Argh!) Then, because my preferred pharmacy was out of stock, I spent a frustrating Friday afternoon running around town to different pharmacies after work (my pharmacy incorrectly told me it was available at another location). After all that, I came home to a power outage that lasted until around 1 am. I definitely won’t be doing anything but relaxing this weekend.

I’ve gotten back into my normal daily routines, but I’ve been listening to podcasts during my commute instead of audiobooks. My page count will probably continue to be low until I get back to audiobooks.

My BFF and her husband were visiting this past week, and I haven’t been reading much at all. Now that they’ve headed back home, my daily life is returning to normal, including my nightly routine of reading for at least a half hour before bed.

I’m trying a new strategy with my TBR. In addition to reading two short books each month for the #BookSpin reading challenge, I’m also attempting to read one of the longest books on my TBR each month. I’m hoping it will quickly start to create shelf space since those longer books tend to be thicker. If I fall behind on my reading goal, I’ll stop, but I’m currently 3 books ahead.

Amazon did a Kindle Rewards Double Points day a few days ago, and I decided to buy several non-fiction books that had been on my wishlist. Now I’m two books behind on my TBR goal. I think I have a cold, and it’s supposed to rain all weekend anyway, so I’ll be reading, watching old movies, and eating soup. Hopefully, I’ll get back on track by Monday.

Only four days into the month, and I’ve already hit my goals. Most of the books I’ve been reading have been ebooks, though. A lot of the Non-Fiction I own is in ebook format, and I’ve been reading as much as I can about how to deal with the sleep and mood issues I’ve been having, related to perimenopause.

I’m trying to read as much as I can about Perimenopause and Menopause before I have an appointment with my primary care doctor next week, so other than audiobooks, I’m not reading much Fiction lately. I hope I’ll finish The Borrowers by the end of the month, though.

“Life happens when you’re busy making plans” is the story of my life lately. I’ve had to overhaul my budget to help my daughter as much as possible without hurting my financial situation and I found out from my boyfriend that we might be moving back to Texas early next year, much sooner than we had originally planned. What does this mean for my bookish life? I won’t be buying hardly any new books in any format for the foreseeable future. I’ll also shift my focus from reading my ebooks to culling and reading my physical TBR. Thankfully, Dewey’s 24-Hour #Readathon is next weekend.
