#ThanksgivingReadathon Wrap-Up

Sunday was the final day of the #ThanksgivingReadathon hosted by Jackie B @ Death by Tsundoku! It was also the last full day of my trip back home to Austin, Texas. Since I didn’t take my computer with me, I didn’t post a #FitReaders check-in on Friday or a “Monday Minutes” yesterday. So, I’m going to include those in this wrap-up as well.

My TBR:

  • The Bookshop of Yesterdays by Amy Meyerson
  • Time Was Soft There by Jeremy Mercer
  • The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell
  • One other book from my “Hygge” list.

The only book I didn’t finish was a book from my “Hygge” list.  However, I did start a book, I Am a Cat on Sunday. Considering how busy I was hanging out and spending time with friends and family, reading 552 pages over the week of Thanksgiving is really good.

Currently Reading:

  • I Am a Cat by Natsume Sōseki
  • Roverandom by J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Book Clubbed by Lorna Barrett

Total pages read this week: 552

Total books for the year: 74 of 75. This is the time of year when I do a lot of crocheting, as long as my hands aren’t bothering me. I’m currently making a scarf for the Boyfriend, and I love to listen to Cozy Mysteries while I crochet.

  • This check-in is for November 22nd – 28th.
  • I signed up for another virtual challenge, but this time it’s for February 2020, and is *only* 100 miles.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

  • Active Days: 5/5
  • Steps: 32,376
  • Miles: 13.38
  • Total Miles: 664.84
  • Active Minutes: 212

#ThanksgivingReadathon 2019

Tomorrow begins the #ThanksgivingReadathon hosted by Jackie B @ Death by Tsundoku!
The idea is to read as many books as you can between the 25th of November and the 1st of December.  There will also be a Bookstagram challenge and a giveaway so check out the readathon announcement page above to find out all of the details.  While a TBR isn’t required, I created a short one anyway.

My TBR:

  • The Bookshop of Yesterdays by Amy Meyerson
  • Time Was Soft There by Jeremy Mercer
  • The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell
  • One other book from my “Hygge” list.

Are you participating in the #ThanksgivingReadathon?  If not, do you have another readathon or other reading plans for the holiday?  Share in the comments!

#Readathon – Final Update

Dewey's Readathon_Pocketwatch_Bellezza

I’ve survived another Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon! However, I fell asleep some time around 1 am.

  • Total Pages Read: 886

End of Event Survey

  1. How would you assess your reading overall? It was great up until I fell asleep. I finished 2 books, and most of a 3rd.
  2. Did you have a strategy, and if so, did you stick to it? My strategy was to listen to audiobooks while I did other things, and to stick to mostly shorter, Middle-Grade books when I switched over to physical books.
  3. What was your favorite snack? The homemade pumpkin bread was so yummy!
  4. Wanna volunteer for our next event? I might finally try my hand at helping out.

#Readathon – Update 2

Dewey's Readathon_Pocketwatch_Bellezza

I’ve survived 16 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon.

  • Pages Read: 287
  • Books Read: The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman
  • Time Read: 8 hours
  • Yummy in my Tummy: 2 more giant cups of tea and more pumpkin bread, Pepper Imps, and some Indian food from Trader Joes.

Until my final update, at 5 am PST, I’ll probably move on to some of the shorter books from my Goodreads list.

Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?

#Readathon Mid-Event Survey

Dewey's Readathon_Pocketwatch_Bellezza

#Readathon Update 1

Dewey's Readathon_Pocketwatch_Bellezza

I’ve survived the first 8 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon and I haven’t fallen asleep on the couch even once!  I have my cat, Dresden to thank for that. He jumped into my lap to take HIS nap while I was trying to eat my breakfast.

  • Pages Read: 427
  • Books Read: The World of Lore by Aaron Mahnke, and Earwig and the Witch by Diana Wynne Jones
  • Time Read: 7 hours and 28 minutes
  • Yummy in my Tummy: I had 2 cups of tea, homemade pumpkin bread, and a yogurt for breakfast, Pepper Imps, jerky, and trail mix as snacks, and stir fry for lunch.

Until my 2nd update, at 9 pm PST, I’ll continue reading the remaining books on my Goodreads list.

Dewey’s 24-Hour #Readathon – Welcome to October Country!

Dewey's Readathon_Pocketwatch_Bellezza

Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon has officially started!  I stumbled out of the bedroom a few minutes ago, but I’m ready to read all.the.books.  I’m getting my giant mug of tea ready now and will be sticking my nose in a book as this goes live. I’ll be posting my updates every 8 hours, assuming my pile of books keep me awake.

  • What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I’m in Emeryville, CA.
  • Which book in your stack are you looking forward to the most? The Witches by Roald Dahl.
  • Which snack are you looking forward to the most? Guava popsicles because it’s been in the high 80’s in the Bay Area since Wednesday.
  • Tell us a little something about yourself!  I’ve been catching up on “Supernatural” since September on Netflix, and I’m only about halfway through season 9. Sometimes I feel like I’ll never get to the point of having to wait for the most recent season!
  • If you participated in the last readathon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? I’ll be reading nothing but #RIP books. Also, for the first time, I will have a readathon buddy for a bit this afternoon (other than my fur-child, Dresden).

I usually put my TBR here, but the link to my pile is up above and currently stands at 50 books tall.

My first update will be at 1 pm PST.  I’ll be tracking how many pages I read and any books I finish.  I’ll also include snacks I’ve nommed, and any musical earworms that have gotten into my head.

Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?

Dewey's 24 Hour #ReverseReadathon – Final Update!

We’ve made it through the Dewey’s 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon!

  • Total Pages Read: 416
  1. How would you assess your reading overall? I didn’t read a whole lot (about 90 pages less than the last readathon), but I did finish one book and get halfway through another, so I feel like this readathon was a success for me.
  2. Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? Nope.  I winged it the whole time.
  3. What was your favorite snack? String cheese!
  4. Wanna volunteer for our next event? Maybe….

I still miss readathoning in Texas, because of the start and end time, but I’m really looking forward to the next readathon in October, regardless!

Dewey's 24 Hour #ReverseReadathon – First Update!

We’ve made it through 16 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon and I, though I said I would post an update at 1 AM PST, I fell asleep! I woke up about 15 minutes ago, in time to post this update.

  • Pages Read: 282
  • Books Read: Redshirts by John Scalzi and Shift by Hugh Howey
  • Yummy in my Tummy: Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken with broccoli and rice.

Until my final update, at 5 pm PST, I’ll continue reading Shift and whatever other books I decide to read.

Dewey's 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon

Dewey’s 24-Hour Reverse Readathon officially started a little more than 30 minutes ago at 8 PM EST. Since I’m in California, it was at 5 PM, and I was still on the bus headed home from work.  I kicked things off with The Shift by Hugh Howey, and now I’m listening to Redshirts by John Scalzi.
Here are my answers to the opening survey:

  • What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I’m in Emeryville, CA.
  • Which book in your stack are you looking forward to the most? I didn’t make a stack for this readathon.  Instead, I’m winging it, but I’m enjoying The Shift by Hugh Howey the most right now.
  • Which snack are you looking forward to the most? I’m going to make popsicles out of guava juice, since I haven’t yet enjoyed those this Summer.
  • Do you have a #ReverseReadathon plan of attack? Nope.  I know I won’t make it the entire 24 hours, but I’m going to try to stay awake for as long as I can tonight.  It’s not often that I get the opportunity to stay up well beyond the witching hour reading like I used to when I was kid during Summer vacation.  I might even make a fort in my living room.
  • Are you doing the readathon solo or with others?  I’m never alone as long as my furbaby, Dresden is around to use me as furniture.  The Boyfriend might join me tomorrow, but he’s out doing that crazy socializing thing right now.

My first update will be at 1 AM PST.  I’ll be tracking how many pages I read and any books I finish.  I’ll also include snacks I’ve nommed, and any musical earworms that have gotten into my head.
