#FitReaders Check-In

fitreaders-2017-1

  • This check-in is for November 10th – 16th.
  • To put it plainly, this has been a rough week, motivation-wise, and it shows in my stats.
  • One nice thing is that I’m only a mile shy of finishing stage 9 on the Appalachian Trail.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

#FitReaders Check-In

fitreaders-2017-1

  • This check-in is for November 3rd – 9th.
  • I missed 2 days of walking this week thanks to having to go into the office to work.  However, I was less than 7K steps from meeting my goal, which is pretty good considering I was barley getting 25K steps a week before I set my new goal.
  • I nailed my Active Minutes goal, which means I’ll be raising it for next week.  I’m think 245 minutes is a good step up since that’s only 15 more minutes than I did this week.

  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

  • Steps: 43,142/50,000
  • Miles: 17.71/20
  • Total Miles: 429.37
  • Active Minutes: 230/210
  • Virtual 5Ks: 0/10

Currently Reading:

  • Wildwood by Colin Melot

Finished:

  • My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix
  • Ghost Story by Peter Straub

Challenges:

Total pages read this week: 670
Total # of books for the year: 89 of 95.  I upped my main reading goal again, and with any luck, I’ll have to raise it to 100 by the end of the month 🙂
This weekend was the Texas Book Festival.  I originally planned to go both days, but then I found out that Kate Milford (author of Greenglass House) and Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven Boys) were both going to be there on Sunday, so I saved my spoons.  I’m so glad I did because the humidity was brutal and I bought so many books that I then had to lug around with me in my tote bag that I would have never made it through the day had I gone on Saturday as well.

The pic I posted on Litsy.

#FitReaders Check-In

fitreaders-2017-1

  • This check-in is for October 27th – November 2nd.
  • November is going to be all about fitness for me.  I’m doing Damn Early Days again, and my goal is to walk 50,000 steps every week.  That’s a steep, but achievable, goal since I’ve been doing less than half that number of steps for awhile.
  • I finally got to a point on the virtual Appalachian Trail to read another chapter of A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson.  I have also started reading A Philosophy of Walking by Frédéric Gros.

  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

  • Steps: 23,497/50,000

  • Total Miles: 411.66
  • Active Minutes: 133/210

#FitReaders Check-In

fitreaders-2017-1

  • This check-in is for October 20th – 26th.
  • Saturday was Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon.  I had planned to go walking while I listened to an audiobook, but that didn’t happen.
  • I’m doing Damn Early Days again in November, and I’ve got a good plan to get back into a regular workout routine.  I’m making my health my primary goal this time around.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

  • Steps: 14,127/70,000
  • Miles: 6.52/35

Total # of books for the year: 85 of 90.  I hit my original reading goal for the year of 85 books so I raised it to 90.  I may have to raise it to 95 before the end of the month, though, since finishing all of my current reads, except for A Walk in the Woods, would bring me up to 90.

Dewey's 24-Hour #Readathon – Final Update

Dewey's Readathon_Pocketwatch_Bellezza
I’ve survived another Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon!

  • Total Pages Read: 809
  1. Which hour was most daunting for you? 3 am when I suddenly didn’t want to read anymore.  That has never happened before.  I usually just start feeling a bit punchy, but this time I got to the end of a chapter and decided I didn’t want to continue.  I switched to an audiobook, and that fixed it, but for a second there I thought something was wrong with me!
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay
  3. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the Readathon next year?  Nope, I only have ideas for improving it for myself.  Next time, I want to be more social, and I’ll start with the book I’m most looking forward to instead of anything else.
  4. What do you think worked well in this year’s Readathon? The 10 Years in 10 Books challenge was the most fun.
  5. How many books did you read? 3, but I also read most of Skin Trade by Laurell K. Hamilton
  6. What were the names of the books you read? Ghostland: An American History in Haunted Places by Colin Dickey, The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, and Head Full of Ghosts.
  7. Which book did you enjoy most?  Head Full of Ghosts
  8. Which did you enjoy least? Ghostland
  9. How likely are you to participate in the Readathon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?  I will definitely be participating again, and I might sign up to be a Goodreads discussion moderator.

I’m going to bed now…
