Dewey’s 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon – Wrap Up

We’ve made it through Dewey’s 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon! I think it was more of a Napathon for me since I fell asleep on the couch twice throughout the day, but I still read whenever I was awake, and I got to snuggle with one of my cats, Raith.

  • Total Pages Read: 202
  1. How would you assess your reading overall? I didn’t read a whole lot (about half as much as the last Reverse Readathon) but I did get about two thirds of the way through The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry by C.M. Waggoner, which I will continue reading until I go to bed tonight.
  2. Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? Nope.  I winged it.
  3. What was your favorite snack? Spicy pretzel sticks with cheese dip.
  4. Wanna volunteer for our next event? Maybe….

I’m really looking forward to the next readathon in October, especially since I’ve already been in the mood for darker stories lately.

Dewey’s 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon – Update

We’re now halfway through Dewey’s 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon!  I decided that I would rather read all day than fall asleep on the couch in the morning, so I went to bed around 11 pm, and got up around 7:30 am after a routine snuggle session with one of my cats, Dresden. He shows up every morning about 30 minutes to an hour before I want to be awake demanding cuddles and pets. If I don’t actively pet him, he kicks me. I love the little fur beast, and therefore I do what he wants 🙂

  • Pages Read: 77
  • Books Read: The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry by C.M. Waggoner
  • Yummy in my Tummy: The Boyfriend and I went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner before the readathon started, and I was too full afterward to snack on anything. Now, I’m waiting to eat while the Boyfriend makes breakfast for us so I can read all day.

Until my final update and wrap-up post, at 8 pm EST, I’ll continue reading The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry and whatever other books grab me from my readathon shelf on Goodreads.

What book(s) are you currently reading?

Dewey’s 24-Hour #ReverseReadathon

Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon has officially started! It’s another Reverse Readathon!  Since I’m in Ohio, it’s 8 PM, and I’ve been up since 7 AM so I already know I won’t be staying awake the entire 24 hours.

Here are my answers to the Opening Survey:

  • What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I’m in Columbus, Ohio.
  • Which book in your stack are you looking forward to the most?  The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry by C.M. Waggoner
  • Which snack are you looking forward to the most? I went shoppinng for snacks right after work, and I got so many wonderful things that I don’t normally eat anymore, but did when I was younger. I’m just generally looking forward to all of it, including the taquitos and the jalepeno poppers.
  • Tell us a little something about yourself!  Here are 20 somethings about myself from many years ago. Something sort of new is that the Boyfriend and I bought and moved into a house! We’ve been renovating for the past couple of months, and it’s starting to look like a home again instead of a small construction site.
  • If you participated in the last readathon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?  Since this is a more laid back readathon, I’m not going to try to stay awake for the entire 24 hours.  Instead, I’ll read until I can’t keep my eyes open or my mind on what I’m reading, I’ll sleep, and then pick back up in the morning.

Here is a huge list of books on Goodreads that I want to read during this and future readathons. I’m very much a mood reader. My first update won’t be until 8 AM EST.  I’ll still be tracking how many pages I read, any books I finish, and snacks I’ve nommed, but only every 12 hours instead of 8 like I do for the regular 24-Hour readathons.

Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for July 30th – August 5th.
  • I think I have the hang of Intermittent Fasting now, but I’m sticking to 15:9s (15 hours of fasting).  That seems to be about the longest I can go without it affecting my mood.
  • I’m now working from home, and that has meant a decrease in steps.  The Boyfriend and I are still taking walks after dinner, but I’m going to have to figure out how to add more steps in throughout the day to make up the difference.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

Monday’s Minutes

“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.

Currently Reading:

  • The Road to Serfdom by F.A. Hayek
  • Sovereign by Jeff Hirsch

  • How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell
  • Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas

Challenges:

#ShelfLove – 28 of 51 books from my TBR.

Total pages read this week: 244

Total books for the year: 45 of 90.

Catherine House was creepy weird and gave me strange dreams after I finished it before going to bed last night. I hadn’t planned on finishing it until I saw that I had fewer than 30 pages left.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for July 23rd – 29th.
  • The Intermittent Fasting is going ok, but I’m having a more difficult time adjusting to 15:9s (15 hours of fasting).

Apparently fun, easy books have been exactly what I needed to get my reading back up. I’m also done with How to Train Your Dragon, and while Catherine House doesn’t fit into the “fun” category, it is weird and has sucked me right in. I just started it yesterday, and I wish I had a longer lunch break so I could read it at work. I might still try.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • The Intermittent Fasting is still going well, and I’m doing 14:10s (14 hours of fasting).

I have fully immersed myself into fun, easy reads rather than try to get through anything heavy, and I’m perfectly ok with that because it means I’m still reading.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for July 9th – 15th.
  • The Intermittent Fasting is still going well, but getting any kind of exercise has not.  My job is a lot less physically active than my last job, and while I’ve been coming up with every excuse I can think of to get up from my desk and walk, but it isn’t enough.
