It took quite a bit, but I’m finally enjoying The Will and the Wilds. I’m hoping to finish it today, though I’m not sure what audiobook I will start next for #WyrdandWonder.
I was stuck in bed for two days this past week, and that is the only reason I was able to get so much reading accomplished. Out of all the books I finished, Serafina and the Seven Stars was my favorite.

It’s been raining a lot again, and I ended up in so much pain by Sunday night that I had to take Monday and Tuesday off from work. I got a ton of reading done, but I was still so bored being stuck in bed that I went to work Wednesday despite probably needing another day of rest.
The MRI I had at the beginning of the month shows that my back is worse than initially thought, so my doctor has referred me to a spine specialist.

Both The Well of Lost Plots and Paper and Fire were excellent books, but I’m not enjoying either Fablehaven or The Will and the Wilds. In Fablehaven, the plot only gets moved along by one of the kids’ refusal to listen or do what he’s told, no matter how many times the very serious consequences prove that his actions affect more than just himself. However, I’m not sure why I can’t get into The Will and the Wilds. Maybe it’s the narrator of the audiobook, but either way, it’s probably going to take me longer than usual to get through it unless something changes.

It’s been in the 80s most of the week and last weekend I did some gardening. I’ve already got the beginnings of something growing, though I’m not sure if they aren’t just some dandelions. The dandelions are everywhere this year! I don’t really care, though, since the whole point was to be outside and play in the dirt.

#WyrdandWonder has me excited about reading Fantasy all month long! And now that I have enough space on my bookshelves for all of my physical TBR, I’m picking up whatever Fantasy book I want to read regardless of format. I no longer feel the pressure to read my physical books exclusively, and it’s a great feeling to get back to some of the series I haven’t been reading because they’re on my Kindle.

It’s been raining off and on most of the week, and cloudy all the time. I mowed on Sunday but ended up having to take Monday off from work because of all of the pain I was in. I don’t think mowing the lawn was what did it, but the Boyfriend said he’d rather hire a lawn service than have either of us have to mow every weekend that’s not rainy just to keep up with it. Now that we’re not mowing, I might have the time to start a small garden or at least grow some flowers in some pots.
“Wyrd and Wonder is an annual celebration of the fantasy genre. Sign up to join the party as we explore worlds of myth and magic, re-imagine traditional tales, cheer on heroes (prefer villains? Sure, we won’t judge you) and discover the secret doors that lead from familiar streets to adjacent realms where a discourtesy or a misstep may land you in hot water. We’ll be reading books, watching movies, playing games and sharing our thoughts online through blog posts and social media with as many like-minded adventurers as care to join us – there’s always room by the fire for a newcomer with a tale to share.“
There are daily prompts, and even though I’m a bit late in doing this, today’s prompt is titled, “Best Laid Plans,” and is all about our Fantasy TBRs.
Y’all who have followed my blog for a while now probably already know that I’m not great at sticking to a strict TBR or stack of books. I’m a bit of a mood reader, so it’s good for me to have lots of options. Luckily, I have plenty of them from my physical bookshelves alone, and even more to choose from when it comes to ebooks and audiobooks. With that being said, I made a list just for this month on Goodreads. It has 117 potential Fantasy reads for me to pick from throughout the month.
Since I’ve already started it, I did not include Gallant by V.E. Schwab on the list, but I will be finishing it tonight before I go to bed.
After that, I think I’ll pick the book I had been most looking forward to reading yesterday during Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris.
Here’s to a Wyrd and Wonderful May!!!

Yesterday was Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, and I’m not sure I’ll be participating in them anymore. It went from being a huge event that I greatly looked forward to every April and October to an event that the hosts don’t seem to want to be bothered with putting any effort into anymore. I think in the future I’m going to put aside a weekend for reading during the same months to keep the tradition on my own.

We’re 16 hours into Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, and I’m calling it a night. I want to stay awake, but my body is not going to let me, no matter how good Gallant might be.
Pages Read: 287
Books Read:Gallant by V.E. Schwab
Time Read: 4 hours and 47 minutes
Yummy in my Tummy: I snacked on some pork rinds, had a turkey and cheese sandwich, and a dirty chai as a late lunch, and then a couple of chili dogs and some root beer for a late dinner.
I’ll write my answers to the closing survey and post them after I get up tomorrow. Until then, good night!
Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?
The first 8 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon have passed and I only took a very brief nap while reading with The Boyfriend on the couch. I did almost fall asleep again when one of the cats, Dresden, demanded yet more snuggles, but instead I took a pic of him to share on Litsy.

Pages Read: 241
Books Read:Wizards of Water and Wood by P.J. Owen, Number the Stars by Lowis Lowry
Time Read: 4 hours and 1 minute
Yummy in my Tummy: I had a giant cup of tea, a cherry yogurt, two hardboiled eggs, and a couple slices of toast with butter for Breakfast. Then, around Elevenses, I opened up the container of peanut butter snack mix I have been waiting all week for and ate quite a bit of it before putting it away again.
Until my 2nd update, at midnight EST, I’ll continue reading the remaining books from my TBR stack and, at some point, hopefully, I’ll listen to at least a little bit of The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde.
