Thursday’s Things: October Country

Thursday’s Things: It’s All About the Hobbits

Every September, Tolkien fans return to the Shire.  Even though September is also the start of #RIPXII, I am no exception.  So, this month will be a strange mix of Middle Earth and Gothic content.  However, this “Thursday’s Things” is all about the Hobbits!

Students are headed back to school for another year of learning, and I’m just a wee bit jealous!  The #SciFiSummer reading challenge is still going strong with roughly a month left, so I mixed in a few Science Fiction related links with the more “scholarly” ones.

I enjoyed putting together the Fantasy edition of “Thursday’s Things” so much that I decided to do another one.  Yes, much of it is related to the “Harry Potter” series, but that’s what I tend to find the most of on the interwebs.

During my Sci-Fi Summer reading challenge last year, I did a Thursday’s Things edition that was nothing but links related to Science Fiction.  I realized that I had never done one that was entirely made up of Fantasy.  So, in the spirit of feeling balanced, here are ten bookish Fantasy things I’ve come across:

Thursday’s Things: Women’s History Month

“Thursday’s Things” is a collection of interesting stuff I’ve found during my meanderings on the net.  Sometimes it’s monthly, other times it’s whenever I happen to find at least 10 topically related links I think are worth reading, but it’s always on a Thursday.

March is Women’s History Month, and yesterday was International Women’s Day.  That makes today the perfect Thursday to give you tons of stuff about Women, Women’s History, Feminism, etc.  Most of these links are reading suggestions, but when do we not need more books to add to our TBR piles?

It’s that time again!  The Christmas tree is up, the holiday decor has been strategically placed around my office, and the questions of what to get me this Christmas are being asked by my loved ones.  So, in the spirit of last year’s Holiday gift guide for book lovers, I’ve put together another wishlist, broken up by price point as best I could.

I am not in any way affiliated with any of the companies linked to or mentioned here, and I’m not receiving any form of compensation for clicks, sales, or this post.

Gifts $25 and Under

Gifts Under $50

And of course, my list wouldn’t be complete without including an online store that has just about everything a book lover could want: Gone Reading.

I named this month’s Thursday’s Things after Ray Bradbury’s short story collection “The October Country” because it sums up all the weird and spooky bookish links I discovered during my wanderings around the internet.

This is the first official week of my Sci-Fi Summer Reading Challenge, so I thought it would be the perfect time to share these Science Fiction related links:
