Monday’s Minutes

“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.

Currently Reading:

  • Lost Books and Old Bones by Paige Shelton
  • A History of Reading by Alberto Manguel
  • My Life with Bob by Pamela Paul

Finished:

  • Glass Town by Steven Savile

Total pages read this week: 351

Total books for the year: 19 of 85. My Life with Bob is comforting. A History of Reading is cozy. Lost Books and Old Bones is a wonderful audiobook to settle into when I’m tired. I foresee this kind of reading will continue throughout the next month.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for March 20th – 26th.
  • My job decided that I am “essential” so I’ve been working all week.  I’m not moving around as much as I normally would during the work day, but I’m getting more steps than I would if I were at home.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

Total books for the year: 18 of 85. This past weekend was the #StayHome24in48 Readathon. I probably did more sleeping than reading, but I stayed off the internet unless it had something to do with the readathon, and I avoided checking the news. It was exactly what I needed, and I’m considering doing the same every weekend for at least the next month or so.

#StayHome24in48 – The End

We have reached the end of the 24 in 48 readathon.  I have to be up early, so I’m off to bed.

Final Update
I listened to some of Lost Books and Old Bones while getting the cleaning done around the apartment.  I also spent quite a bit of time reading Glass Town, but I’m still just over 100 pages from the end.

While I didn’t meet my goal of finishing 3 books, and I didn’t get anywhere near reading for 24 hours, I did have a good time. I know I’ll finish Glass Town this week, probably by Wednesday.

In the Middle of Reading:

  • Glass Town by Steven Savile
  • Lost Books and Old Bones by Paige Shelton

Pages Read: 174

Update #3
I stayed up for a couple of hours after my 2nd update and got some more reading done.

I’ve got some cleaning to do today, so I will probably switch over to an audiobook.

My final update will be at 9 pm Pacific time. Happy reading!

#StayHome24in48 – Hour 12!

It’s hour 12 of the 24 in 48 readathon and here’s my first update!

Update #1
Since the official start time was 12 am EST and I live in California, I stayed up to read a bit before I went to bed.
I didn’t read this morning, though because I only got up about a half hour ago.

Current Read: The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss

My next update will be at 9 pm Pacific time, and I’m sure I’ll have much more to share then!  See you soon 🙂

#StayHome24in48 Readathon – Social Distancing Edition!

The Social Distancing Edition of the #24in48 Readathon just started, 9 pm PST (Midnight for all y’all East Coasters)!  This is the Readathon that started it all for me, and it’s the Readathon that will help keep me from going insane as the entire state of California is now under “shelter in place” orders.  This will be my 9th 24 in 48, and I’ve been so excited that I bravely walked to Target in search of snacks.

Goals:

  • Read for 24 hours.
  • Finish at least three books.

TBR:
The first book on my TBR is the one I’m currently reading, but everything else are books I’ve been wanting to read for awhile.

  • The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
  • The First Pillar by Roy Huff
  • The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop by Lewis Buzbee
  • How to Build A Girl by Caitlan Moran
  • Jackaby by William Ritter
  • The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley

Are you participating in the 24 in 48 Readathon?

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for March 13th – 19th.
  • I need to figure out a new plan for getting exercise under the “Shelter in place” order.  I’ll still count my steps and mileage, but I’m going to start doing body-weight exercises as well.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.
