Total books for the year: 9 of 85. I got my San Francisco public library card this week, and I went a little nuts in checking out books that have been on my wish list for years. I also had 2 holds come in from the Oakland public library, so I’ve got a lot of reading to do!

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, Twitter chats, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. I read some of JOMO by Jessica Misener, but then decided to read on of the library books I checked out on Saturday, An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten.
I’m pretty sure I read more books during this Bout of Books than I have for any of the previous ones. Finishing five books in one week in January is a fantastic start towards my reading goal for the year.

I didn’t read much, but I did walk to the library. I went to get one book, but left with five 🙂 Most of my reading was in the evening before I went to bed. I read some of JOMO by Jessica Misener until I got sleepy.

I started Sorry I’m Late, I didn’t Want to Come by Jessica Pan during my commute to work. After I got home from work, I listened to all of Girl Logic by Iliza Shlesinger, which was fantastic. Iliza is my fave stand-up comedian. All in all, I spent a large part of my Friday laughing, and that’s never a bad thing. Now for a weekend of JOMO and Hygge!

I finished It Looked Different On the Model by Laurie Notaro, and started JOMO by Jessica Misener. Yesterday was a bit of a rough day for me, so the best part was snuggling down under the covers with a book about the “Joy of Missing Out” and cuddling with my cat, Dresden.
