#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for March 29th – April 4th.
  • It was a busy, busy weekend full of walking around San Francisco and Oakland.
  • While I was busy all week as well, it was more the crunch time of getting projects completed at work and meeting deadlines, which didn’t involve much walking other than back and forth from my desk to the copy room.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.
  • Workouts: 3/5
  • Steps: 44,849
  • Miles: 18.45
  • Total Miles: 186.99
  • Active Minutes: 145

Monday's Minutes

“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.  All book covers are linked to Goodreads unless otherwise noted.
Currently Reading:

  • To Visit the Queen by Diane Duane
  • Cinderella’s Big Score by Maria Raha
  • Day After Night by Anita Diamant

Total pages read this week: 112
Total books for the year: 14 of 50. It was the Boyfriend’s Birthday this weekend, and I was swamped with work stuff all week.  Naturally, reading took a back seat.  I have no regrets, though, especially since this weekend is Dewey’s 24-Hour #Readathon.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for March 22nd – 28th.
  • This week’s check-in is late because I was busy celebrating the Boyfriend’s Birthday and we had a friend fly in from Texas to visit!  It has been an amazing weekend, and my numbers will probably be a bit higher in next week’s check-in 🙂
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.
  • Workouts: 0/5
  • Steps: 34,557
  • Miles: 14.23
  • Total Miles: 168.54
  • Active Minutes: 23 🙁

Finished:

  • Women in Texas by Ann Fears Crawford and Crystal Sasse Ragsdale

Total pages read this week: 176
Total books for the year: 14 of 50. It was a busy week, and finding time to sit and read for more than a couple of minutes was next to impossible.  This week will likely be just as busy since it’s the Boyfriend’s Birthday this weekend and one of his closest friends is flying out to visit.

Down the TBR Hole #61

Image: hjl

Down the TBR Hole was started by Lia over at Lost in a Story.  All book covers are linked to Goodreads unless otherwise noted.

How it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I will be repeating this process until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR.

My TBR pile is holding steady at 685 books.  Though I finished a book this week, I didn’t start another one.  I’m already reading 3 books right now, with hardly any time to actually read, so I didn’t want to pick up a 4th only to have it neglected.

This week’s books:

A Dream of Hope and Sorrow by Jonathan Crocker – GO.  Like several of last week’s books, this book comes off sounding generic and uninteresting.

Call of the Herald by Brian Rathbone – GO. I don’t think the synopsis for this book could be any more nondescript and vague.

The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle – KEEP.  This contains all of the stories involving Professor Moriarty.  Since I have only ever seen film or TV adaptations of the Sherlock Holmes stories, I’m very interested in reading this book.

Anywhere But Here by Jason D. Morrow – KEEP.  I started this one last Summer, but then got distracted by other Sci-Fi books.  I will pick this one up again, hopefully this Summer.

Engines of War by George Mann – KEEP. I would never willingly remove a “Doctor Who” book from my TBR without reading it.

My TBR mountain is down to 683 books.  I still have a long way to hit my goal for this year, but at least I haven’t added any more books.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for March 15th – 21st.
  • I’ve been dealing with a bit of insomnia, so I haven’t been doing much in regards to fitness.  I’ve been more focused on getting what little sleep I can and trying to make it through each day.
  • Luckily, I didn’t start having trouble sleeping until after I got in a couple of active days.  I did quite a bit of walking during the weekend.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.
  • Workouts: 4/5
  • Steps: 38,178
  • Miles: 15.76
  • Total Miles: 154.31
  • Active Minutes: 237

Finished:

  • Smash! by Ian Winwood

Total pages read this week: 329
Total books for the year: 13 of 50. I finally finished Smash! and then decided to immediately start Cinderella’s Big Score because, as much as I loved Smash!, it didn’t mention any female Punk bands.  That’s fine, since it was the story of Green Day, The Offspring, and Rancid (along with a couple of other 90’s Punk bands), but it’s Women’s History Month, and I need a little more L7, Bikini Kill, and Veruca Salt (along with so many more) in my life right now.

I will be repeating this process until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR.

My TBR pile went down one to 687 books.  I finished reading Smash! by Ian Winwood and started Cinderella’s Big Score by Maria Raha. I also started reading Day After Night by Anita Diamant.

This week’s books:

Halfway Dead by Terry Maggert – KEEP.  “Come for the waffles. Stay for the magic.”  That’s the first sentence of the synopsis on Goodreads.  Yes, please!

The Space Between by Diana Gabaldon – KEEP. This one is a no-brainer, considering my love for all things “Outlander.”

Shadow of the Sun by Laura Kreitzer – GO.  This book sounded like it might be vaguely interesting until the last couple of sentences in the synopsis.  At that point it sounded like the author had tried to put too many elements into the story and the plot would wind up being ridiculous.  No, thanks.

Sora’s Quest by T.L. Shreffler – GO.  I have the feeling that even though the synopsis doesn’t mention any romance, this is going to basically be a Paranormal Romance.  Not interested.

Everflame by Dylan Lee Peters – GO. “…an epic battle of good versus evil.”  What is it with these free ebooks and their generic story lines?!

My TBR mountain is down to 685 books.  It would be lower if I hadn’t added a couple of books to my wish list, but it could have been higher had I not finished a book and started two others.  The one good thing, for my wallet anyway, is that I haven’t bought any more books this week.  Instead, I checked out Day After Night from my local public library.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for March 8th – 14th.
  • The Sun is out, my mood has improved greatly, and I successfully made it through an entire week without being sick and missing work.  Now I just have to get back to working on my fitness.
  • If you have a FitBit, you can find me HERE.

Total pages read this week: 296
Total books for the year: 12 of 50. I thought I would finish Smash! this week, but I got sucked in to Women in Texas, which nearly the first half is all about some of the women who lived before Texas became a state on up to the Civil War.  I will finish both books before the end of the month, though, and hopefully all three.
