Down the TBR Hole was started by Lia over at Lost in a Story. All book covers are linked to Goodreads unless otherwise noted.
How it works:
Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will be repeating this process until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR.
My TBR pile is up to 672 books, despite having read many books since my last “Down the TBR Hole” post. Mostly, it’s due to coming across quite a few books that I added to my wish list.
This week’s books:
Men Explain Things to Meby Rebecca Solnit – KEEP. This was the first book by Solnit that I had heard about, but it’s not the first I’ve read. That would be Wanderlust, which was wonderful.
Wild by Cheryl Strayed- KEEP. I might be one of the few American women in the world who hasn’t read this one yet. My only reason is that I’m currently walking the virtual Appalachian Trail. As soon as I’m finished, I will be starting the Pacific Crest Trail and this book.
Black Light by Elizabeth Hand – KEEP. This book was a part of a Open Road Media ebook Humble Bundle that I got several years ago. The story sounds interesting, so as with pretty much every other book I’m not sure about, I’ll give it the 50 page test at some point.
Camber of Culdi by Katherine Kurtz – KEEP. This one is from the same Humble Bundle as above, and it will also get the 50 page test.
Jaran by Kate Elliott – KEEP. Another book from the Open Road Media bundle, except I’ve read other work by Kate Elliott and loved it. I’m saving this one for #SciFiSummer.
My TBR pile is stuck at 672 books for now, and, with only a little more than a month left to the year, I’m pretty sure I won’t be meeting my goal of 625.
“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.
Currently Reading:
The Bookshop of Yesterdays by Amy Meyerson
Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King
The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell
Finished:
Dead Beat by Jim Butcher
Total pages read this week: 428
Total books for the year: 70 of 75. I think this will be the last time I extend my reading goal for the year. I only pushed it up to 75 because I don’t think I’ll finish 10 more books in a month and a half.
My physical therapy is going very well, and I’m feeling better than I have in a long time. It’s showing up in my totals for the week, so I know it’s not all in my head.

Total books for the year: 69 of 70. We’re entering the season of Hygge! While I know Hygge is a year-round thing, there is nothing like Autumn and Winter for getting cozy.
I woke up late yesterday morning and went to see “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” last night, which is why I didn’t post this yesterday.
I had a falling out with a friend on Sunday, and that has caused me quite a lot of pain. So, for November, I’m going to focus on self-care, including getting enough sunlight and exercise. I’m also trying to jump start my daily meditation practice.

Total books for the year: 68 of 70. I’m determined to finish Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell, but other than that, I’m getting into that time of year where all of my books are comforting in some way. I have a bunch of Cozy Mysteries lined up to listen to at some point over the next couple of months, and I’m very much looking forward to some #AudioCrafting or #AudioColoring.

Total books for the year: 65 of 70. Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon was this weekend. Since I fell asleep before I had the chance to get to some of the shorter books on my RIP list, I read Bunnicula yesterday afternoon.
How would you assess your reading overall? It was great up until I fell asleep. I finished 2 books, and most of a 3rd.
Did you have a strategy, and if so, did you stick to it? My strategy was to listen to audiobooks while I did other things, and to stick to mostly shorter, Middle-Grade books when I switched over to physical books.
What was your favorite snack? The homemade pumpkin bread was so yummy!
Wanna volunteer for our next event? I might finally try my hand at helping out.
