Monday’s Minutes

“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.

Currently Reading:

  • Sixpence House by Paul Collins
  • Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff
  • White Night by Jim Butcher

Total pages read this week: 120

Total books for the year: 5 of 90.

This week’s post is for the past two weeks since I was on the road with the Boyfriend and our two furbabies moving from California to Ohio. I didn’t get my computer set up in our new apartment until Saturday so this week’s #FitReaders Check-In will also be covering the past two weeks. I’ll also cover 10 of my TBR books in this Saturday’s Down the TBR Hole post. Now that we’re mostly settled in and back into a somewhat normal routine, I’m hoping to at least finish reading White Night.

Not much more reading this week than last week. More packing and I haven’t even been listening to any podcasts. I have to have everything ready to put in the moving truck by Friday.

Not much reading at all this week. Instead, I’ve been packing up all of my books, discovering that lots of them never got scanned into my Goodreads, and listening to the “Reading Glasses” podcast to distract me from everything else. When I do read, I can’t stay focused for very long, so with the exception of the 80 pages of White Night, I’ve read part of “The Cozy Issue” of Bella Grace magazine while soaking in the tub with a Lush “Comforter” bubble bar.

Total books for the year: 5 of 90. My Dad passed away yesterday. I considered not posting anything at all today, but I wanted to at least let all of you know that I might be taking an extended blogging break, and if so, I will be back. This blog isn’t going to disappear without me saying so.

Total books for the year: 5 of 90. For some reason, Sixpence House is difficult for me to pick up, but once I do, I don’t want to stop reading. Unfortunately, I tend to only read it before bed, and then have to force myself to be a Responsible Adult and put it down. I have an eye exam today, so I will be bringing the book with me in case I have any waiting to do.

Total books for the year: 88 of 85. I’m trying to finish all of my current reads by New Year’s Eve so that I can bring in the New Year with a new book from my TBR to kick off my #ShelfLove challenge. I’m well over halfway through Lagom, a little more than 20% of the way through The Girl in the Tower, and nearly 30% through Around the World with Auntie Mame, so I think I can do it if I really buckle down and not give in to the temptation of starting any other books.

Total books for the year: 85 of 85. I’m trying to catch up on all of my Christmas reading. I’ve had several Christmas-related books for years and figured I would take a break from my annual re-read of A Christmas Carol to read them. I might still read A Christmas Carol, but with only 4 days until Christmas, I’m not going to rush myself.
