We’re getting all the stuff fixed in the house as problems come up, and with the exception of a couple of things I still need to unpack, the house finally feels like a home. The Boyfriend and I had a mostly lazy weekend, and that gave me the time to read an entire book and get a good start on two others.
I’m officially moved into the house, and of course, something had to break. The AC suddenly stopped working and no amount of troubleshooting resulted in it starting up again. Luckily, we have several fans. I haven’t been reading much, or at least it doesn’t feel like much, since unpacking and finding a home for everything is now the top priority.
It’s been raining on and off for the past few days so I haven’t been able to get as much yard work done as I would like. However, I am nearly done with the cleaning inside the house, and I’ve also been packing up stuff (mostly books) in the apartment to get ready for Moving Day.
I’m trying to finish Shades of Grey by tomorrow when my library loan expires. I’m not able to renew the ebook, thanks to other people waiting for it, but I did place a physical copy on hold, so hopefully, I won’t have to wait too long to get back to reading it if I’m not able to finish it in time. Of course, I could do the trick of taking my Kindle off the wi-fi, and see if that will give me some more time.
The house is sucking up most of my time and energy. It’s mostly the front and back yards which haven’t been taken care of since the people who owned the house before moved out. I’ve also been doing a lot of cleaning inside the house, and while I could listen to audiobooks during that, I prefer to listen to music to keep me motivated. Hopefully my reading will pick back up once the yards are fully tackled and no longer resemble a wilderness.
My reading has slowed significantly compared to the last couple of weeks. Luckily for me, today is the start of #BoutofBooks 31, so I should have a huge page count in next week’s post.
I somehow managed to keep up the readathon momentum this past week, reading over 700 pages and finishing 3 books. I’m now only 3 books behind schedule for my annual goal, and I think I will finish at least one of my current reads this week, so hopefully I’ll only be 2 books behind by the next “Monday’s Minutes”.
I love writing these posts after a #readathon weekend! I’m still 4 books behind schedule for my annual goal, but that’s a lot better than last week’s 7.
I did a lot of reading this week; the kind of reading I usually do during a readathon, but there weren’t any readathons. Reading has become my escape again, thanks to some health problems, and I’ve been lucky that, so far, most of the books I’ve been picking up off my shelf, listening to, or checking out from the library have been great at letting me put the real world away for a bit.
