  • This check-in is for June 22nd – 28th.  I don’t have much to say about this past week that I haven’t said for the past several, except I came down with a stomach bug over the weekend.  It’s still affecting me, so I’m probably not going to make my goal this week either.

  • This check-in is for June 15th – 21st.  I got out and walked every day, but I didn’t come anywhere close to getting 8K steps any day of the week.  The weather, studying for my midterm exam, and being busy with other things all added up to me not making it to the gym or Hot Yoga, but I deliberately walked as much as I could.  I suppose that’s the important thing, right?

  • This check-in is for June 8th – 14th.  After a couple mini-crises kept me from getting my steps at the beginning of the week, I said the hell with it and stopped actively trying to meet my goal.  I also wanted to read The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon during my free time more than I wanted to do anything else.  While I would usually take my book with me to read on the treadmill, The Fiery Cross is a brick of a mass market paperback that would have been uncomfortable to hold while walking.  It also would have gotten destroyed from sweat.
  • I’ve decided to put my goals next to what I accomplished in the hopes that it will help motivate me a bit more.

  • Total Money Donated: $7.79

  • This check-in is for June 1st – 7th.  I was doing really well until the weekend and a paper I had to write.  To avoid this happening again, I’m going to walk to my school’s gym after class at least two days a week and spend an hour accumulating as many steps as I can before I go home.
  • I didn’t make it to any Hot Yoga classes this week either.

  • Steps: 43,813
  • Distance: 18 miles
  • Flights of stairs: 70

  • This check-in is for May 25th – 31st.  I’m beginning to get frustrated with all the various events that have been interfering with getting my steps.  First, Monday was shot due to the torrential downpour that caused the parking lot at the apartment complex where I live to turn into a river.  While I did get a half-hour workout on both Tuesday and Thursday, as well as a Hot Yoga class on Wednesday, the rest of my week was ruined by several things.
  • Now that I’m back in class, I’ll be able to get much closer to my goal just by walking to and from campus every day.  My schedule is about to get insanely busy though, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue going to Hot Yoga, but I’m going to try.  I’m also going to attempt to find the time to make use of my university’s gym since it’s not likely to be too busy this time of year.
  • I’ve added my total active minutes as a part of my goal.  I’ll be working towards a minimum average of 30 active minutes a day.

  • Steps: 30,533
  • Distance: 12.53 miles
  • Flights of stairs: 13
  • Active Minutes: 130
  • Total Money Donated: $4.26

  • This check-in is for May 18th – 24th.  I know I said last week that I was making fitness a priority.  As I said yesterday in my Monday’s Minutes post, I had a large case of “I don’t want to do anything”, and that included making time for exercise. While the Boyfriend was off walking, I was gaming.  I did make it to a Hot Yoga class though.
  • Now that I spent some time being thoroughly lazy, I’m feeling considerably more productive, and I’m recommitting myself to reaching my goal of an average of 8K steps a day.
  • If you’d like to add me as a friend on FitBit, you can find me HERE.
  • Steps: 21,471
  • Distance: 8.83 miles
  • Flights of stairs: 9
  • Total Money Donated: $3.06

  • This check-in is for May 11th – 17th.  Finals, a To-Do list a mile long, and Bout of Books 13 all added up to not getting anywhere near my step goal of averaging 8K per day.  I’m making exercising a priority until I start the Summer semester and might be forced to put everything on the back burner again.
  • The Boyfriend got a Fitbit!  I’m determined to out walk him. 🙂

  • This check-in is for May 4th – 10th.  I did a couple thousand more steps this week than last.  So far, the gradual increase in steps is still working and my back is still pain-free.  I hope that continues as I increase my steps.
  • If you’d like to add me as a friend on FitBit, you can find me HERE.
  • Steps: 32,066
  • Distance: 13.17 miles
  • Flights of stairs: 60
  • Total Money Donated: $1.50

  • This check-in is for April 27th – May 3rd.  I did almost 10K more steps this week than last, and a little more than half of what I would need to do to meet my goal of 8K steps per day.  So far, the gradual increase in steps seems to be working since I feel good and my back hasn’t been hurting me.  I hope that continues as I add more steps.
  • I recently found out about Plus3, a fitness and charity site where you can create a profile, link a fitness device such as FitBit (or enter in your activity manually), and “donate” your steps to charity.  They convert your steps and other activities into money that goes to a charity you choose from the ones they have available.  So, from now on, I’ll be updating the total amount of money I’ve donated to Doctors Without Borders.

  • Steps: 28,526
  • Distance: 11.73 miles
  • Flights of stairs: 61
  • Total Money Donated: $0.76 – this is not for the whole week since I didn’t sign up until Friday.

  • This check-in is for April 20th – 26th.  I really took it easy this past week.  I don’t know how this week is going to go, and I’m not trying to meet my goal of averaging 8K steps per day, but I’m hoping to steadily increase my steps.  I think a gradual increase over the next couple weeks will help me get back to where I was without hurting my back again.
