“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life. All book covers are linked to Goodreads unless otherwise noted.
Currently Reading:
Total pages read this week: 866
Total books for the year: 82 of 90. I love the #Readathon in October! I get to catch up on all my dark, creepy, and scary books and I get a huge boost towards my reading goals. I’ve completed my goals for #RIP and I’m only 8 books away from reaching my annual Goodreads goal. Also, my TBR mountain is now under 700 books!
What are you reading this week?
I’ve survived another Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon!
I’ve survived 16 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, but I did take a 4 hour nap!
Until my final update, at 5 am, I’ll continue reading my current book, White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi and then another book or two from my Goodreads list.
Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?
I’m a little late with this because I fell asleep on the couch but here are my answers to the Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon Mid-Event Survey!
1. What are you reading right now? White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi and Read it and Weep by Jenn McKinlay
2. How many books have you read so far? 1, but I’m nearly finished with Read it and Weep and about halfway through White is for Witching.
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Readathon? I’m really looking forward to What the Woods Keep by Katya De Becerra.
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? I’ve only had one interruption, caused by The Boyfriend, but I don’t mind, because it was to tell me about a really cool part of Oakland that has bookstores, coffee shops, and all sorts of boutiques and other shops.
5. What surprises you most about the Readathon, so far? How I wasn’t tired until after 2 pm and then suddenly I was asleep.
I’ve survived the first 8 hours of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon and I haven’t fallen asleep on the couch even once! I have my cat, Dresden to thank for that, since I sat down in front of my laptop and he jumped into my lap to take HIS nap! Luckily, I had my paperback copy of ‘Salem’s Lot nearby!
Until my 2nd update, at 9 pm, I’ll continue reading the remaining books on my Goodreads list.
Whether you’re participating in the readathon or not, what book(s) are you currently reading?
Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon has officially started! I stumbled out of the bedroom at 4:30 am so I would have time to make a giant bowl cup of tea. I’ll be posting my updates every 8 hours, assuming my scary reads keep my eyes wide and my senses on high alert.
I usually put my TBR here, but the link to my pile of spooky reads is up above and currently stands at 66 books tall. I might also switch things up a bit with a couple of creepy graphic novels and some frightening audio books that didn’t make it on the list.
My first update will be at 1 pm. I’ll be tracking how many pages I read and any books I finish. I’ll also include snacks I’ve nommed, and any musical earworms that have gotten into my head.

Currently Reading:
Total pages read this week: 681
Total books for the year: 79 of 90. The Boyfriend and I finished the 1st season of “American Horror Story.” We also watched “Coraline” this weekend since he had never seen it. I decided to start watching “Supernatural” again, but I won’t be getting through too many episodes before Halloween since I only watch it when the Boyfriend isn’t home. This week, I’ll be putting together my #Readathon stack, and I’m hoping to finish ‘Salem’s Lot so I can focus on shorter books.
What are you reading this week?
Down the TBR Hole was started by Lia over at Lost in a Story. All book covers are linked to Goodreads unless otherwise noted.
I will be repeating this process until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR.
My TBR pile is still sitting at 706 books. Even though I finished a couple of books, I also added a couple.
Girl Defective by Simmone Howell – KEEP. The synopsis starts with “In the tradition of High Fidelity and Empire Records…” There is no way I’m not reading this book.
Time and Again by Jack Finney- KEEP. This story involves time travel and a romance. If it is in any way comparable to Outlander, I’ll take it.
The Old Brown Suitcase by Lillian Boraks-Nemetz – KEEP. This is the story of a young girl who lived in the Warsaw Ghetto and then immigrated to Canada. I’m a little obsessed with books about WWII.
Imaginary Boy by Mark Eldrich – GO. I don’t know why, but I’m no longer interested in reading this book. *Shrug*
The Song of the Quarkbeast by Jasper Fforde – GO. I’m only removing this book because I haven’t read the first book in the series yet. I’ll probably add it back to my TBR after I finish The Last Dragonslayer.
My to-read shelf is down to 704 books. Since I just started ‘Salem’s Lot by Stephen King, that number isn’t likely to go down by next Saturday. However, next weekend is the Dewey’s 24-Hour #Readathon! There won’t be a “Down the TBR Hole” post until the weekend after that, and I’m hoping I’ll be down to 700 books by then.
