Down the TBR Hole #123

How it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads want-to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

My shelf skyrocketed to 1141 books.  I bought a Humble Bundle ebook bundle of Seanan McGuire’s “October Daye” and “InCryptid” series.
This week’s books:

Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire – KEEP.  This is the first book in yet another series, “Wayward Children,” by McGuire that I want to read.

Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes – KEEP.  I was hoping to get to this book for this year’s #SciFiSummer, but with less than 3 weeks to go, I doubt that will happen.  I’ll have to make it a priority for next year.

Artificial Condition by Martha Wells – KEEP.  This is another book I want to read for the Sci-Fi Summer reading challenge this year, and it’s short enough that I might get to it.

Inconspicious Consumption by Tatiana Schlossberg – GO.  I don’t know why, but I originally thought this was a book more about how to be a Minimalist than anything else, but its focus is on the horrible consequences of consumerism, which I already know more than enough about.

No Man’s Land by Simon Tolkien – GO.  If I remember correctly, the author is J.R.R. Tolkien’s grandson, so, of course, I was immediately intrigued; however, I don’t think I can take on such a dark and heart-breaking story as the synopsis makes this book out to be.
My want-to-read shelf is back down a couple of books to 1139. The next post will be mostly ebooks I already own.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for August 27th – September 2nd.
  • My ankle got worse and I ended up having to go to Urgent Care.  The doctor put me in a walking cast for the week because I wouldn’t be able to work with crutches, not to mention trying to get to and from work from where I park would’ve been excruciating.
  • The Boyfriend and I went to Cleveland to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and I’m so thankful that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has free scooter rentals; otherwise, I doubt I would have been able to go, even with being in a walking cast.
  • If you have a Fitbit, you can find me HERE.
  • Active Days: 2/5
  • Steps: 31,339
  • Miles: 12.75/17.26
  • Total Miles: 503.73/900
  • Active Minutes: 103/150

#RIP:

  • Peril of the Fiction Read – 0
  • Peril of the Short Story – 0
  • Peril of the Listen – 0
  • Peril of the Screen – 0

I’m posting this a day late because the Boyfriend and I were in Cleveland celebrating our 10th anniversary! We went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because neither of us had ever been. The drive to Cleveland was a bit stressful, but we listened to Odd and the Frost Giants on the way home, which was the perfect length.

Now that I’m back home, I am ready to finish out the last couple of weeks of #SciFiSummer while also fully embracing all things creepy and scary for #RIP. I’ll be participating in 4 of the 5 categories, but focusing on “Peril of the Fiction Read,” and I’ll track everything in these weekly posts.

What are you reading? Let me know in the comments!
