“Monday’s Minutes” is a weekly post in which I track my bookish life.
Currently Reading:
The Bookshop of Yesterdays by Amy Meyerson
The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell
Time Was Soft There by Jeremy Mercer
Finished:
Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King
Total pages read this week: 561
Total books for the year: 71 of 75. Today starts the #ThanksgivingReadathon! I’m super excited for Thanksgiving day, when I can dive into my books and only come up for food, tea, and bathroom breaks. I don’t have to be back to work until the 3rd 🙂
Tomorrow begins the#ThanksgivingReadathon hosted by Jackie B @ Death by Tsundoku! The idea is to read as many books as you can between the 25th of November and the 1st of December. There will also be a Bookstagram challenge and a giveaway so check out the readathon announcement page above to find out all of the details. While a TBR isn’t required, I created a short one anyway.
Are you participating in the #ThanksgivingReadathon? If not, do you have another readathon or other reading plans for the holiday? Share in the comments!
Down the TBR Hole was started by Lia over at Lost in a Story. Â All book covers are linked to Goodreads unless otherwise noted.
How it works:
Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will be repeating this process until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR.
My TBR pile is up to 672 books, despite having read many books since my last “Down the TBR Hole” post. Mostly, it’s due to coming across quite a few books that I added to my wish list.
This week’s books:
Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit – KEEP. This was the first book by Solnit that I had heard about, but it’s not the first I’ve read. That would be Wanderlust, which was wonderful.
Wild by Cheryl Strayed- KEEP. I might be one of the few American women in the world who hasn’t read this one yet. My only reason is that I’m currently walking the virtual Appalachian Trail. As soon as I’m finished, I will be starting the Pacific Crest Trail and this book.
Black Light by Elizabeth Hand – KEEP. This book was a part of a Open Road Media ebook Humble Bundle that I got several years ago. The story sounds interesting, so as with pretty much every other book I’m not sure about, I’ll give it the 50 page test at some point.
Camber of Culdi by Katherine Kurtz – KEEP. This one is from the same Humble Bundle as above, and it will also get the 50 page test.
Jaran by Kate Elliott – KEEP. Another book from the Open Road Media bundle, except I’ve read other work by Kate Elliott and loved it. I’m saving this one for #SciFiSummer.
My TBR pile is stuck at 672 books for now, and, with only a little more than a month left to the year, I’m pretty sure I won’t be meeting my goal of 625.

Dead Beat by Jim Butcher

Total books for the year: 70 of 75. I think this will be the last time I extend my reading goal for the year. I only pushed it up to 75 because I don’t think I’ll finish 10 more books in a month and a half.
My physical therapy is going very well, and I’m feeling better than I have in a long time. It’s showing up in my totals for the week, so I know it’s not all in my head.

Total books for the year: 69 of 70. We’re entering the season of Hygge! While I know Hygge is a year-round thing, there is nothing like Autumn and Winter for getting cozy.
I woke up late yesterday morning and went to see “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” last night, which is why I didn’t post this yesterday.
I had a falling out with a friend on Sunday, and that has caused me quite a lot of pain. So, for November, I’m going to focus on self-care, including getting enough sunlight and exercise. I’m also trying to jump start my daily meditation practice.

Total books for the year: 68 of 70. I’m determined to finish Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell, but other than that, I’m getting into that time of year where all of my books are comforting in some way. I have a bunch of Cozy Mysteries lined up to listen to at some point over the next couple of months, and I’m very much looking forward to some #AudioCrafting or #AudioColoring.
