I named this month’s Thursday’s Things after Ray Bradbury’s short story collection “The October Country” because it sums up all the weird and spooky bookish links I discovered during my wanderings around the internet.
- 16 Films Adapted from Horror Giant H.P. Lovecraft – These movies would be perfect for the Peril on the Screen part of R.I.P. XI.
- The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe read by Christopher Walken – Need I say [never]more? (See what I did there? Yep, I’m awesome.)
- 5 Hours of Edgar Allan Poe Stories Read by Vincent Price & Basil Rathbone – If that first link isn’t enough for you, or you need to get that super nerd-dork joke out of your head, run screaming over to Open Culture to get your Poe fix.

- Horror Reads For Fans of Horror Flicks – I think the best way to stay awake during the October edition of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon is to scare yourself silly with a good Horror book.
- Enter the Deadliest Garden in the World – This isn’t book related, but it’s a fun video to watch because any plant in this garden….will kill you.
- All Hallow’s Read – Give the gift of a scary book this Halloween. Also, get this and past years’ free posters such as the one pictured above.
- 7 Halloween Costume Ideas Based On Your Favorite ’90s Books – Here are a few more costume ideas.
- 10 Classic Gothic Novels – You probably know most of the books on this list, but have you ever heard of The Mystery of Edwin Drood? I hadn’t, but I’m definitely going to check it out.
