As promised, here’s the second “Thursday’s Things” post for this month. All of the links are related to Halloween, Horror, or Gothic literature in some way.
- Terrifying Children’s Books – I don’t know if I would consider these books to be terrifying, but they are creepy.
- 49 Halloween Costumes All Book Lovers Will Appreciate
- Gothic Cabarets from 19th Century Paris – The 19th century is my favorite, not because life was great (it wasn’t), but because people were obsessed with the supernatural and the macabre.
- Let’s Talk About It: Why Do We Love Being Scared? – Shaina enjoys a good scare, but she doesn’t know why.
- Gourd Girl: A Seasonal Creep Book List – I try not to double up on blogs, but even though this one doesn’t have anything to do with Halloween or Horror, it’s funny and quick to read.
- The Stephen King Challenge – This is the perfect time of year to get started on the Stephen King perpetual reading challenge, join the Salem’s Lot read-along, or just read the blog. Also, there’s a list at the bottom of the site containing all of King’s published work.
- The Humble Goosebumps Audiobook Bundle – Pay what you want to get your fave spooky stories from your childhood in audiobook format while also donating to charity!
- Ten Children’s Movies that Scared Us Silly – I’ve included this one because many of the movies on the list are based on books.
- 15 Things to Do With Pumpkins (Besides Carve Them)
- 23 Underrated Horror Books You Have To Read ASAP – Not all of these are underrated, IMO, but Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon is this weekend, and those of us also participating in RIP X might want or need some scary books to keep us awake through the night.
