#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for November 18th – 24th.
  • I’ve passed the 700-mile mark for the Charity Challenge! I have less than a hundred miles to reach my goal.  It feels so awesome!

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for November 11th – 17th.
  • I’m posting this later in the day than I normally like, but the Boyfriend and I went shopping for everything we need to make Thanksgiving dinner, and that took quite a bit of time.
  • I am so excited to be less than 10 miles away from hitting 700 miles!  I’ve been trying to hit that miler marker for the Charity Challenge for years, and I just barely missed it last year, but this year I’ve got over a month left to go.  I know I won’t reach 1K miles, but I think I might still be able to get to 800.  I’ve adjusted my goal accordingly.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for October 28th – November 3rd.
  • During my most recent physical therapy appointment, I tried out a TENS unit to see if it would help, and it was amazing!  I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t in any pain, and so this is a game changer.  I’m continuing with my physical therapy, of course, but I now have a lot more hope that I can start doing a lot of the things I haven’t been able to do for a long time.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for October 21st – 27th.
  • I’ve been tired a lot lately.  I assumed it was because I’ve been in a lot of pain, and there’s been a lot going on over the past couple of months, and the weather has not been helpful either.  It turns out that, while all of that is definitely true, I’m also low on vitamin D again (I had to be on a supplement a few years ago).  I’m now back on the supplement, and I’m hoping that my energy will improve soon.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for October 14th – 20th.
  • I’m posting this later than usual due to the #Readathon over the weekend, which was a lot of fun!
  • I start physical therapy today, after having an initial appointment to do an assessment and then discuss goals.  I’ll be doing 8 weeks of physical therapy, and then the spine specialist and I will reassess what we’re going to do from there.  The good news is that she says I don’t need surgery.  The bad news is that I am likely to never be 100% pain-free.  Instead, our focus will be getting me to the point where I can do more with less pain.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for October 7th – 13th.
  • Thanks to my back, I had to take 2 days off from work, and I barely made it through the rest of the week.  I have doctor’s appointments set up for Monday and Tuesday, and I’m really hoping those appointments result in me being in less pain.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for September 30th – October 6th.
  • My pain level has not gotten any better, and I’m probably going to have to start using a heating pad at night.  I did manage to go walking around The Book Loft with my BFF (who was visiting briefly on her way to do the Army 10 Miler in D.C.) and then eat lunch at an amazing German restaurant. However, I’m glad I took my pain meds with me because I had forgotten to take them in the morning before we headed to the bookstore, which has a lot of stairs.

#FitReaders Check-In

  • This check-in is for September 23rd – 29th.
  • I’ve had too much back pain and been too tired to keep up with the plank challenge.  I only got a little more than halfway to 120 minutes.  I hope they’ll do the same challenge next year because I would really like to have another chance to make it.

  • The first day of Autumn was this week, and with it came cooler temps, which was excellent, and rain, which wasn’t so great, but it wouldn’t be Fall without some rain-induced back pain now would it? *Sigh*
