The nightmare continued this week with a burst pipe just as I was getting ready to go to work. My living room was flooded, and because I don’t have bookshelves yet, some of the books I had in boxes got ruined. A couple of bookish art prints I won in a charity auction also got damaged. Luckily, because I got up late that morning, nothing else of mine was wrecked. I don’t know what would have happened had I already left for work. I’m also grateful that I knew where the main water valve was and could get to it to shut it off. I did hurt my back, though, which I was already having trouble with, because I had to quickly move everything in my living room off of the completely water logged carpet and get the books and other things out of the soaked boxes.
My ex helped me move everything back once the carpet was fully dried, and all of my book boxes are now up in my office in case something like this happens again. I also have a massage appointment today that will hopefully help my back. Through all of this, I have been sick, and all I can think is, “please, can I just have one day that I’m not in pain, sick, or dealing with chaos?! Just one full 24-hours that I can relax and enjoy in peace?” Maybe today will be that day, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
