You Only Spent How Much?! #3

Book Outlet is a wonderful online bookstore that I recently found out about!  I don’t know how they do it, but the books I bought look brand new.  I thought they sold used books, which explained the low prices.  On the one hand, I’m disappointed that I signed up for the No Book Buying Challenge before I knew just how awesome Book Outlet is, but, on the other, I’m very glad because without that challenge, I would probably end up even more broke than I am already.

  • The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley
  • Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier
  • Suck it, Wonder Woman! by Olivia Munn
  • The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente

I found one of the books at Hastings while I was out with my Best Friend.  I got the other 3 from Book Outlet, thanks to a $10 credit I received for Black Friday.  I found as many books as I could get for $10.  I ended up going just over that amount, and after adding shipping, I only spent $4.96.

Total Cost: $9.95

The Boyfriend and I have been doing some decluttering and reorganizing of our oh so many things.  We have a new addition to the family, Dresden the cat, and needed to kitty-proof the apartment.  While we were doing that, we culled our book collections, and I took a huge box to Half Price Books.  Of course, while I waited for the staff to determine how much I would get for the box-o-books, I found more books to take home with me, though far less than I brought to the store.  I have another box to take in next weekend, so this is likely to be my 2nd to last book haul of the year, as well as for next year since I decided to participate in the No Book Buying Challenge.

Since so many other bloggers share their book hauls, I decided to join in, but with a slight difference.  I’ve never seen anyone share how much they spent on their books, which is something I’d love to know.  I’m a poor college student.  As much as I’d love to spend oodles of money on books as if it grew on trees, I can’t.  So, most of my books are free e-books I’ve come across, library books, and ARCs.  However, when I do have a little extra cash, and I have a coupon, or know of a sale, I take my wish list and my tote bag to the book store (usually Half Price Books), and I get my book shopping on.  I’m always surprised at how many amazing books I find for very little money.  I always leave with my tote bag at least half full.  On this trip, I only had a coupon for 40% off my highest priced item, but I still left the store with 4 books.  My total cost is below.

 Book Haul 1

  • Prince Lestat by Anne Rice
  • Eight Women Philosophers: Theory, Politics, and Feminism by Jane Duran
  • This Book is Overdue!  How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save us All by Marilyn Johnson
  • The Forbidden Library by Django Wexler

Total Cost: $29.49

Do you have any book hauls that you’re proud of because of how little money you spent?
