Dewey’s Read-a-Thon Mid-Event Survey

1. What are you reading right now?  The Austere Academy by Lemony Snicket

2. How many books have you read so far?  I’ve finished 2 books so far.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?  Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?  Nope, I was really lucky in the fact that I’m not working yet, I’m a week away from Finals, and my boyfriend is on a road trip with his buddies.

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?  The only interruptions I’ve had so far is the occasional random picture/text from boyfriend.  I wait until I get to a good stopping point in my book, and then reply.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?  The creative mini-challenges.

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?  Nope, this is awesome!

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?  I would figure out a way to make myself get up early enough to make it to the coffee shop before kick off, and I would pick a couple more books.  I really did think there was no way I’d get anywhere near finishing all 5 books I picked out, but here I am almost done with the 3rd book, and it’s only the halfway point!

9. Are you getting tired yet?  A little, so I made some more tea.

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?  Don’t be too concerned with page and time counts, and participate in as many of the mini-challenges that interest you.  They’re so much fun, and they really help break up the time into smaller more manageable (i.e. less daunting) chunks.  Before you know it, it’s the halfway point and you’re wondering where the day went to!
